IMPORTANT PRODUCT INFORMATION

Wockhardt Hypurin® Porcine Reusable Cartridge Pen Availability

(AutoPen Classic supplied by Owen Mumford)

You may be aware that Owen Mumford plan to discontinue their AutoPen Classic reusable, insulin delivery pens which are compatible with our following Hypurin (porcine insulin) products:

  • Hypurin Porcine 30/70 Mix Cartridges – PL 29831/0119
  • Hypurin Porcine Isophane Cartridges – PL 29831/0122
  • Hypurin Porcine Neutral Cartridges – PL 29831/0124

Please note there is no immediate need for patients currently using Autopen Classic insulin pens to change their devices. As specified in the instruction leaflet ‘The Autopen Classic’ can be used for up to two years’ *

Owen Mumford have indicated an expected date of discontinuation based on current demand of March 2025. Both 21 and 42 unit pens are affected.

Wockhardt are taking every step to ensure minimal disruption to patients using Hypurin Porcine Cartridges. Although there is no compatible pen immediately available to order, please be assured that Wockhardt remain committed to keeping Hypurin insulin available for patients and we anticipate a new, Hypurin-compatible pen to be available from Sept/Oct 2025.

Patients can still obtain new Autopen Classics up until March 25, and therefore the short gap in availability should be manageable provided there are no artificial surges in demand.
