BD pen needles are now under a different name
Same trusted needle, new name, new packaging

BD’s Diabetes Care division, which manufactures insulin pen needle products, has now transitioned to a different name: Embecta. As a result, most BD insulin pen needles now come under the branding of Embecta and will have new Embecta packaging.

You may have already noticed that your needle packaging has changed. While the appearance and branding has changed, the product itself remains the same high-quality needle that patients know and trust. To help ensure continuity of supply, patients are encouraged to check that their repeat prescriptions have been updated to reflect the new Embecta product names.

Following this transition, most BD insulin pen needles are now no longer part of the Drug Tariff, which is produced by the NHS Prescription Services on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care, and is primarily supplied to pharmacists and GP practices.
